Wise words

These words were written by Andy Rooney, TV commentator, who died recently at the age of 92. A man who had the gift of saying so much with so few words.

I've learned.... That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.

I've learned.... That when you're in love, it shows.

I've learned.... That just one person saying to me, "You've made my day!" makes my day.

I've learned.... That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.

I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right.

I've learned.... That you should never say no to a gift from a child.

I've learned.... That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in some other way.

I've learned.... That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.

I've learned.... That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.

I've learned.... That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.

I've learned.... That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.

I've learned.... That we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for.

I've learned.... That money doesn't buy class.

I've learned.... That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.

I've learned.... That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.

I've learned.... That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.

I've learned....That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.

I've learned.... That love, not time, heals all wounds.

I've learned.... That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.

I've learned.... That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.

I've learned.... That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.

I've learned.... That life is tough, but I'm tougher.

I've learned.... That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.

I've learned.... That when you harbour bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

I've learned.... That I wish I could have told my Mom that I love her one more time before she passed away.

I've learned.... That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.

I've learned.... That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

I've learned.... That when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist that you're hooked for life.

I've learned.... That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.

I've learned.... That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

Presenting ME at 4th week :D No, am not pregnant

Now, for more updates on my usage of PB, let me present to  you my recent self.

TADAAAA.. ! (I tend to say that a lot :P )

Front view - slimmer silhouette (loving it!) + no tummy!

Side view

:D

Full frontal

I think I lost quite a bit of weight but I'm not the type who notices these kinda things. I should probably get myself  a new weighing scale, 'cos my previous one decided to shut itself down.

Yes! More burning and losing calories just by wearing PB! I still can't get over the fact that it's easy to wear and comfortable to use all day long :)

Another wise decision! *happy dance*

Dim sum dinner + facial must-haves shopping!

Thanks to Groupon, I recently had the golden opportunity to satisfy my dim sum craving without burning a hole in my purse. I purchased the coupon at RM25 each for a 7-course dim sum meal. I dragged the Mister along as he loves eating (like I am).

So last Sunday, off we went to Luk Yu Tea House, Starhill. The crowd in Bukit Bintang was as usual, massive. I've booked the place at 5pm, so we went to Pavillion first to kill some time observing rich people go in and out of Gucci and Prada like going in and out 7-Eleven jer. At nearly 5pm, we headed our way to Starhill.

Luk Yu Tea House was kind of difficult to find because it was located directly below the elevator opposite Tarbush. So we had to look around twice and finally asked the not-so-friendly concierge on the whereabouts of Luk Yu.

Once we were settled at our table, we were asked to order our drinks as it wasn't part of the buffet. Both our drinks costs us RM30++. Then our food came.

So classic! *jakun*

Forgot what it is called - made from dates

Friend buttered prawn - SUPERDELICIOUS!

Fried rice with seaweed

Close-up of the fried buttered prawn - DELISH! DELISH!

Siew Mai

Steamed something made out of fish - I'm bad at describing food

Vegetable spring roll

Yam with chicken inside - YUMMMEH!

Goodness everywhere!

I enjoyed my dim sum dinner and the food served was quite filling as well! However I don't think I'll make a 2nd visit here, though. I don't know why, probably because of the ambience? Quite dull, I might say, due to the classic concept I guess.

After getting my tummy filled, I stopped by Sephora to get my facial must-haves. Stepping into Sephora was like stepping into a ray of light, seriously. I've never tried Sephora before so I decided to give their foundation, make-up remover and toner a try. The price is affordable too.

Tadaaa!

Have been using them for about a week now and I must say the result is pretty impressive. The foundation provides enough coverage and my face feels surprisingly light (as opposed to Clinique's dermawhite foundation that I previously was using). Price is about RM80++.

The make-up remover and toner was quite good. They actually give the same effect as those from Clinique, clean and thorough, however I don't fancy the smell of these 2. I can't remember the price for the make-up remover. The toner costs around RM30++. Sounds good eh? Well you should have a look in Sephora for yourself.  I'd be lingering there longer if not for my beau who was sadly waiting for me :P (I know he's tired from his face but he didn't say anything xoxo)

Everytime you go away, you take a piece of me with you

My beau has gone off to his home town for Chinese New Year celebration *sobs*

Prior to him leaving, he has taken very good care of me and my household.

He made sure my plants are watered, and nagged me about it.

He made sure I've got enough supply of mineral water to last me a week (he'll be gone for at least a week).

He made sure I've got enough groceries and food for the week (he called just now asking if I bought any bread for me to eat as the grocers will definitely be low on the main food supply).

He reminded me to fill my car gas tank as it was predicted the petrol stations will also be low on fuel due to the festival (I filled up my car tank that very day, good girl right?)

He reminded me to pay off my list of unpaid bills - water, electricity, utility.

He made sure I locked my door and gate every night.

Sometimes he even cleans my house when I'm not around.

Now you know why I sobbed right? :')

Oh how I love this guy. He's the best decision I've ever made, and I thank Allah enormously for showing me the right path. He's the sweetest and I love him for being soooo incredibly patient with me (or my moods, rather) even when I marah him once (I quickly said sorry then and cried a bit .. erk! Was feeling so guilty mah).  I just hope he'll be blessed with good things and good, good loving now onwards. I'll make sure he'll be happy with me at the end of the day.

Gosh, it's not even 1 hour yet and I'm already missing him.

I bet when he reads this post he'll be mocking me like mad but I just don't care.

Yes, on the Internet meme proposal - 2 thumbs up!

This video made me tear up this morning
I'm really a sucker for sentimental anything
*sobs*

This was actually a marriage proposal made by Timothy Tiah, Nuffnang's founder, to his girlfriend of 3 years, Audrey Ooi.

What made this particular proposal different was that he was using Internet memes as a medium of proposal.  Consequently, this made headlines even internationally! Get this, millions hits on Vimeo, 9GAGers, YouTube, gets a trending in Twitter Phillippines and (brace for it!) ALSO gets Christina Perri and Ryan Seacrest's attention! (Seacrest shared the video on his Facebook page)

This is undoubtedly phenomenal!

Here's a sneak peak of 1 of the Internet headlines :

Internet Memes wedding proposal goes viral: Nuffnang founder proposes to gf
A clever meme proposal by Timothy Tiah to his girlfriend Audrey Ooi has been liked by E! host Ryan Seacrest and shared by websites like Huffington Post and Mashable. Here's the touching proposal. Congrats to the couple!

My take on this?
Well, as for the video, I've watched it twice, AND cried twice too.
Personally I've seen better videos but his idea is awesome and I love the loving look that Audrey has for Timothy at 4:30-4:32.
As for the proposal, a skeptic turned believer, who wouldn't guessed?

That's what they call, love :)

Things that make me go awwww (and melt)

Was blog-browsing for cupcakes/cakes pages when I stumbed upon these beauties..

TADAAAA..

I love the cake on the right, pure white cake with a burst of beautiful pink, beige and maroon colours on top.
Simply beautiful.. I'd want this kind of cake if I (ever) get married :P

I love this one right here, it's a popcorn cupcake!
So cute!

Girlfriends's outing ♥

This is actually a back-dated blog entry. It was a day I went out with one of my best girlfriends, Azlene (on Christmas day, to be exact). I haven't seen her in ages (probably 2 months) 'cos we've been busy with our own thang ;)

So we met up in Sunway Pyramid, had some gossip session while eating our yummy desserts away.

Azlene is one of those friends who can instantly lit up your day with just her smile, seriously. One of my girlfriends even commented on Lene's eyes as 'smiling eyes'. Yup, true (please verify the statement from the photos below).

Anyways, after having our desserts (get this, we have not even had our main course yet, Delicious was waving its pavlova and red velvets at us when we're passing it), we went for our shopping spree. I got myself several tops and a pair of flat shoes which I was kind of aiming for ;)

First time trying Pavlova

Lene and her red velvet

DIG IN!

I love us!

Have you seen anything like this amazing shoe store?
It's 'Payless' of Sunway Pyramid's new wing

Each aisle represents 1 shoe size

We finally found Christian Siriano's shoe in this store (not the one Lene is holding though)

Loving outings with besties!

Year-end food feast!

Okay peeps, more on FOOD! :P

Hehe.. as I said, we can't live without them can we?

Anyhoo, last Friday, my office had its yearly end-of-year food feast, sponsored by the company. So what we had was Japanese sushis and California rolls, Kenny Rogers chicken, Snowflake ice-creams, homemade hotdogs, Chatime bubble teas etc. Here's some shots for yah..

Salmon, tuna and egg sushis

What I took, nyums...

Chatime rock BIG TIME!

Yep, the whole truckload's here!

California rolls in the making

my Kenny Rogers chicken thigh with original sauce

There were lots of leftovers that night as well, so some of us had second, third and even fourth servings as well!

Hopefully next year we'll have more vendors coming in ;)
