Happily ever after means loving someone when life isn't so sweet

Yay, my first entry for May :)

Feels like I haven't written in ages *rolles eyes dramatically.. heeee*  Been occupied with work and people. I seriously just can't wait for June to be over so I can focus on my next personal projects.

Anyhoo, the other day I posted the above message as my FB status. True enough, happily ever after does mean going through the thick and thin with that same person, as the vow goes, for better and for worse.

Quoting Estelle's line in the movie 'Valentine' Day', "When you love someone, you love all of them... you gotta love everything about them, not just the good things but the bad things too. The things that you find lovable and the things you don't. "

Saya mengerti! Saya pun pernah melaluinya ;)

Heard a lot of experience from others where their other half leave them during the time that they need them the most, and I wonder why they would do things like that, knowing very well that this will break their heart. In their most vulnerable time, need I say more? This is sad. Kesian tau.

This topic actually popped up in my head as I was thinking about relationships the other day. Honestly I love reading books on relationships and love because I am too still looking for answers to my many, many questions and am now still on this same journey. But I wholly do believe that if you're looking for someone to settle down with, you need to find someone who will love you and be there for you - even at your worst.

Taking a very fine and close example - my parents.

During the 1997 Malaysian financial crisis, my father left his very stable position in the bank and set up his own businesses, upon taking advice from his then colleagues. A rather bad time to start business from scratch it was, because apparently not many people are willing to collaborate and spend money to invest with, and for him.

Those were the times when I can see how friends and even close relatives start to stray away from our family. My father received a lot of 'i-told-you' insults from some of his family members. But the thing is, no matter how broke our family got, Mak was always there for my father (although at times, she nags an awful lot :P ).

When my father started up a small eatery business, Mak was helping out Papa at the cafe - sometimes she cared for it more than my dad did, worked longer hours than my Dad. And thank God too, my Dad is one of those cool kind of husbands, so he rarely lets his steam off (I would've screamed my lungs out of all the financial and health stress then).

Years later (and even now), my siblings and I will still talk about those trying times and couldn't be more thankful to have a mother like Mak and a dad like Papa. They rarely say or show their affections to each other but I know that they are deeply in love.

Now, I want THAT kind of relationship, the one will still be willing to be there to catch me when I fall.
